MARQUETTE, KANSAS

Well, ThumperCafe #30 will be recorded in the books as a great success. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend as far as weather, considering the time of the year.
Jack and I left Thumperville this morning around 7:30 a.m. and actually used a little heat to stay warm. For this time of the year it was really warm considering the early departure, but the heat took the edge off the slight chill in the air. It was a beautiful sunny, no wind morning, with the birds chirping, and the lilac bushes in full bloom. It was like riding in a middle of a perfume factory with the sweet smell permeating the air..
We arrived in Marquette early enough for a bite of breakfast, and the bikes started showing up shortly after I consumed my biscuits and gravy.
I didn't count the bikes, but I think I heard someone say there were around 40 total. All in all we had a great time talking about our favorite motorcycles, and I'm now looking forward to ThumperCafe #31 in Idaho.
Ride safe everyone, and we'll see you in several months.

MCPHERSON, KANSAS

What a beautiful day to ride. Temperature couldn't have felt better, and there was no wind, something unusual for Kansas. I ended up riding almost 70 miles by the time I arrived in the town of McPherson for lunch with #000, his wife Carrie, Jungle Jim, and Arlyn.
After lunch, we rode across the street to the motel, with several FSSNOC members having already arrived and standing in the parking area. The Thumpers just kept coming up the drive, and by the time we were ready to go to the McPherson College, I'm guessing we had registered 25-30.

The college tour was great, especially the assembly of the Model T in just a little over 10 minutes. This is a great program the college offers, and teaches the students every aspect of car and motorcycle restoration. Click the links below and to the left to watch the video's of the Model T assembly. If I did everything correctly, this should work.

This is what the Model T looked like before they started the assembly.

One of my favorite old cars, a 57 Chevrolet

After the tour we met back at Krehbiels Meat Market for some delicious BBQ.

It really seemed strange leaving everyone to ride back to Thumperville this evening, but I'll seem them all again tomorrow morning in Marquette, Kansas, for some more fun, more good food, and ThumperCafe #30.

See you tomorrow,

THE DAY WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR IS HERE.......

And the weather is looking great for both days. When this ride was planned I assumed it would still be a bit chilly, maybe even a heated clothing kind of day. Instead, everything happened different this year......I've been mowing for 3 weeks now, and you can watch the grass grow as I speak. Who would have ever thought the temps would be in the 90's on March 30th.
Jack (#000), myself, and several others will be leaving Thumperville around noon today to take the scenic route to McPherson. Even then it will be a short ride for all of us, as it's only 35 miles from here. We're looking forward to seeing everyone, and having a great time together. For those not coming until Saturday, we'll see you then. I'll have pictures of today's events posted here sometime tonight, so make sure you check back.

Ride Safe!!!!

P.S. #000 has been practicing his riding skills being as though Winter is over. He should be in tip top shape for this weekend....
